FERROL | Actualizado 25 Septiembre 2013 &#8211; 01:00 h.<\/p>\n<p>Hoy se conmemora el D&iacute;a Internacional de la Ataxia y la asociaci&oacute;n gallega AGA organiza diferentes actos en distintas ciudades y municipios de la comunidad. En Ferrol se llevar&aacute; a cabo una campa&ntilde;a de difusi&oacute;n de la enfermedad y del trabajo asociativo de AGA, as&iacute; como la colocaci&oacute;n de mesas informativas y de recaudaci&oacute;n de donativos destinados a la investigaci&oacute;n de las ataxias.<br \/>Ser&aacute; el pr&oacute;ximo s&aacute;bado 5 de octubre cuando se instale en la calle Dolores, delante de Supercor, una mesa, desde las 10.30 a las 20.00 horas.<br \/>El objetivo es la difusi&oacute;n de esta enfermedad y de la entidad, socia de la Federaci&oacute;n de Ataxias de Espa&ntilde;a &ndash;Fedaes&ndash; y de la Federaci&oacute;n Gallega de Enfermedades Raras e Cr&oacute;nicas &ndash;Fegerec&ndash;.<\/p>\n<p>aefat<br \/>A nivel estatal funciona tambi&eacute;n Aefat, asociaci&oacute;n que agrupa a afectados por ataxia-telangiectasia, y que tiene como secretaria a una ferrolana, Mariv&iacute; V&aacute;zquez.<br \/>Precisamente la labor llevada a cabo por esta entidad ha comenzado a dar sus frutos con la creaci&oacute;n de la primera beca de investigaci&oacute;n predoctoral para realizar una tesis en AT consistente en dos a&ntilde;os de beca y dos de contrato, con una dotaci&oacute;n de 120.000 euros. La ayuda econ&oacute;mica ha sido posible gracias a la labor de recogida de tapones de pl&aacute;stico llevada a cabo por Aefat y en la que colabor&oacute; Aspanemi &ndash;entidad a la que tambi&eacute;n pertenece Mariv&iacute; V&aacute;zquez&ndash;. Se recogieron en total 300 toneladas de tapones &ndash;en la comarca se alcanzaron las 14 Tm&ndash;, que permitieron la convocatoria de una investigaci&oacute;n, junto a otras iniciativas y donaciones.<br \/>Ahora, esa beca tiene ya nombre propio, el de Almudena Serrano Ben&iacute;tez, del centro andaluz de Biolog&iacute;a molecular de Medicina regenerativa, que es la beneficiaria de esta beca de estudios, gracias al proyecto &ldquo;Papel de las roturas de doble cadena del ADN en la patog&eacute;nesis de ataxia-telangiectasia&rdquo;.<br \/>La reuni&oacute;n del comit&eacute; cient&iacute;fico calificador tuvo lugar el pasado 15 de julio y tras estudiar las evaluaciones de los proyectos recibidos decidi&oacute; otorgar esta beca a esta profesional.
