Este proyecto se basa en trabajos previos realizados por la profesora Paull. En investigaciones anteriores, en su laboratorio analizaron el cerebelo y el tejido cerebral de la neocorteza de pacientes con ataxia telangiectasia (AT y controles emparejados que mostraron diferencias marcadas en la agregaci\u00f3n de prote\u00ednas* en el cerebelo AT, as\u00ed como p\u00e9rdida general de prote\u00ednas espec\u00edficas involucradas en la se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n del calcio. Ya se sabe que esta v\u00eda de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n del calcio se interrumpe en formas familiares de otro tipo de ataxia, la ataxia espinocerebelosa.<\/p>\n*Agregaci\u00f3n de prote\u00ednas: cuando las prote\u00ednas desordenadas o mal plegadas se acumulan y se agrupan. La agregaci\u00f3n de prote\u00ednas est\u00e1 implicada en una amplia variedad de condiciones neurodegenerativas.<\/span>

Tanya Paull investigar\u00e1 m\u00e1s a fondo los cambios en los niveles de prote\u00ednas en el tejido cerebral con AT, determinando si estos se deben a cambios en la expresi\u00f3n g\u00e9nica. Tambi\u00e9n utilizar\u00e1 un sistema neuronal humano para determinar si las prote\u00ednas de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n de calcio est\u00e1n reguladas por ATM o su actividad. Su trabajo tiene como objetivo aumentar nuestra comprensi\u00f3n de las causas de las anomal\u00edas de las prote\u00ednas que se han observado en los tejidos cerebrales con ataxia telangiectasia.<\/p>\n\u00bfC\u00f3mo podr\u00eda ser determinante en la vida de los afectados por la A-T?<\/span><\/strong>
