El Equipo Zurich Aefat<\/strong> fue protagonista ayer en el Zurich Marat\u00f3n de San Sebasti\u00e1n, como \u00fanico grupo con personas con discapacidad que particip\u00f3 en este evento deportivo multitudinario. Seis j\u00f3venes con ataxia telangiectasia, una enfermedad rara sin cura ni tratamiento, fueron aplaudidos a su paso por las calles de San Sebasti\u00e1n, con un grupo de 20 corredores solidarios que empujaron sus sillas especiales durante los 42 kil\u00f3metros de recorrido.<\/p>\n

Jon (Vitoria-Gasteiz), los mellizos B\u00e1rbara y Adri\u00e1n (Burgos), \u00c1lex (Oliva, Valencia), \u00c1lvaro (Terrassa, Barcelona) y Sara (Madrid) fueron los representantes de Aefat<\/a>, la asociaci\u00f3n que agrupa a afectados por esta enfermedad gen\u00e9tica y sus familias en Espa\u00f1a. Todos utilizan silla de ruedas desde los 8-10 a\u00f1os a causa de esta enfermedad neurodegenerativa y multisist\u00e9mica que provoca una grave discapacidad f\u00edsica progresiva, inmunodeficiencia, complicaciones respiratorias, dificultad en el habla y una alta probabilidad de c\u00e1ncer.<\/p>\n

\"Equipo<\/p>\n

Sus sillas especiales fueron empujadas por 20 grandes corredores solidarios<\/strong> de \u00c1lava, Vizcaya, Huesca, Barcelona, Portugal y Reino Unido. El abanderado del equipo fue Abel Fern\u00e1ndez Mendivil, conocido como SpiderAbel<\/strong>, un corredor de Amurrio (\u00c1lava) que lleva cerca de 90 maratones enfundado en su traje de Spiderman y es fiel a la asociaci\u00f3n desde hace varios a\u00f1os. El equipo cont\u00f3 con un corredor solidario \u201chonor\u00edfico\u201d, Gary Shaughnessy<\/strong>, director general de la Z Zurich Foundation, gran deportista y ejemplo de superaci\u00f3n que colabora con Aefat desde hace a\u00f1os y ya particip\u00f3 con el Equipo en la Zurich Marat\u00f3n de M\u00e1laga de 2019.<\/p>\n

El Equipo disfrut\u00f3 de esta iniciativa inclusiva y no faltaron \u201cemociones extra\u201d, ya que un corredor voluntario del equipo que es m\u00e9dico tuvo que atender a un corredor de la carrera que sufri\u00f3 un fallo cardiaco cuando pasaba junto al grupo de Aefat.<\/p>\n

El Equipo Zurich Aefat<\/strong>, creado en 2017 con el apoyo de la compa\u00f1\u00eda aseguradora, participa en las maratones que patrocina Zurich<\/a> en Espa\u00f1a, actualmente las de Barcelona, Valencia, Madrid y Sevilla, adem\u00e1s de San Sebasti\u00e1n.<\/p>\n

\"Equipo<\/p>\n

Las maratones suponen una actividad inclusiva y motivadora<\/strong> para estos j\u00f3venes, una oportunidad para que sus familias compartan un fin de semana de convivencia, una forma de dar visibilidad a esta enfermedad infradiagnosticada y una buena ocasi\u00f3n para recaudar fondos y seguir financiando proyectos de investigaci\u00f3n<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Por ello, animan a donar<\/strong> a todo el que quiera ayudar a las familias de Aefat a luchar por la investigaci\u00f3n de la ataxia telangiectasia en un reto especial para este marat\u00f3n creado en la plataforma Migranodearena<\/a>, que sigue abierto hasta el pr\u00f3ximo domingo. Ya han recaudado m\u00e1s de 1.200 euros pero para la asociaci\u00f3n supone una oportunidad \u00fanica, ya que la Z Zurich Foundation<\/a> promete donar a cada reto solidario de este marat\u00f3n la mitad de lo recaudado.<\/p>\n

\"Equipo<\/strong><\/p>\n

Patxi Vill\u00e9n<\/strong>, presidente de Aefat, ha agradecido a todos los implicados su colaboraci\u00f3n. \u201cQueremos dar las gracias a la gente que anima en las calles, a los que donan en Migranodearena para avanzar en la investigaci\u00f3n, a los corredores solidarios que se esfuerzan en entrenar, venir, empujar las sillas de nuestros hijos, y hacer que se diviertan y r\u00edan durante la carrera\u2026. Y por supuesto, al apoyo extraordinario de Zurich<\/strong> desde 2017, porque sin ellos este proyecto inclusivo no habr\u00eda nacido, y la presencia extra de Gary, gran directivo, deportista y persona. Adem\u00e1s, en Olarain<\/a><\/strong>, nuestro alojamiento de siempre en San Sebasti\u00e1n, nos tratan con un cari\u00f1o y empat\u00eda que no hemos visto en otro sitio. Son \u00fanicos. Y contamos con la colaboraci\u00f3n de otras empresas como MRW<\/a><\/strong>, que traslada nuestras sillas y productos solidarios de marat\u00f3n en marat\u00f3n. Tambi\u00e9n este a\u00f1o disfrutamos de nuevo de la visita al Museo de la Ciencia\/Eureka! Zientzia Museoa<\/a><\/strong><\/strong>, de Kutxa Fundazioa, que colabora con nosotros. Nuestros chicos se lo pasaron en grande en el museo y los simuladores<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n
